hmmm lm' Uvrtmvil Walter Abel The Victory of Socrates Lewis Leonardi, The Victory of Socrates foil. READING THEATRE The Reading'Theatre of C. W. Post College, under the direction of Lucile Calvert Pallen, opened its 67-68 sea- son with a presentation of The Story of Mary Magdalene. Following, Mr. Walter Abel guest starred in The Vic- tory of Socrates. Prof. Pallen's manu- script of the aforesaid reading was later presented at the Smithsonian Institute. At the traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the Reading Theatre read The Other Wise Man. Other readings performed by the theatre include, The Trial of Peter Zenger and Of Love, Death and Youth.

MADRIGALS IO6 CHAMBER SINGERS The C. W. Post College Chorus, under The direction of Mr. Alexander Dashnaw, began the year with their Traditional performance at the Anniversary Ball. There- after, The Chorus' efforts were concentrated upon Verdi's Requiem, which was performed at Philhar- monic Hall on November 25 in coniunction with the N.Y.U. Chorus and the Cosmopolitan Young Peoples' Orchestra, under the direction of the renowned South American Conductor, Jose Serbrier. The Chamber Singers, a specialized group con- sisting of 25 members of the chorus, performed at Columbia University this February in a program of works by Stefan Wolpe, internationally known com- poser and Distinguished Professor. The Chamber Sing- ers sang Two Chinese Epitaphs, which were written by Mr. Wolpe in 1937 but had never before been publicly performed. This year Mr. Dashnaw organized an eight-member Madrigal Group which concentrates upon early Ren- aissance music and unique modern compositions. THOR ai i w .. i l' .s ig .
