Dedication It has been said that there is a difference between an instructor and an educator. The genuine educator is not one who is content to briefly explain vague generalities and leave the rest to the research of the confused student. Rather, he is a professor willing to discuss a topic until he sees a perplexed look transformed to one of satisfied comprehension. He is constantly striving to improve his method of teaching and to keep abreast of the latest developments in his particular field. The man to whom we dedicate Opticon '67 can truly be called an educator, in the greatest sense of the word. This year's dedicatee, a professor of English, never appears to tire of his work. Even with the increased responsibility which accompanied his appointment to the position of As- sociate Dean of the College, he still finds time to teach. Those students fortunate enough to have a course with him find it to be an unforgettable experience. Recently, he was co-author of a major book entitled Renaissance Culture and was honored at a reception for faculty authors. Last year, he served as adviser to Opticon and was chairman of the Student-Faculty Publications Board. His warm per- sonality and the genuine interest he exhibits in student af- fairs will always be an inspiration to those of us who know him.
