Less than a month after the Fall semester began, preparing for Homecoming became the ideal excuse for students to take extended study breaks. Starting weeks in advance, fraternities and sororities spent frantic nights putting together floats-al- ways with the coveted trophy in mind. The Grand Parade of floats and queen candidates was merely One aspect of the three day weekend, for the festivities had started on Thursday with a concert given by the Bitter End Singers in the Connolly Gym. Following the football game on Saturday, students traveled into Manhattan. There they may have tried to rest while pre- paring for the Homecoming Dance, held in the Grand Ballroom of the Statler Hilton Hotel. But there was no time for rest after- wards, because many parties lasted well into early morning hours.
