Sigma Beta Epsilon Fraternity was formed on September 18, 1955. At that time four students met with Professor E. Hugh Behymer, in the south room on the third Hoor of the Library. The group talked over the idea of forming a fraternity and then agreed to return the following day with enough men to form the First, and what was to become the Biggest and Best, fraternity at C. W. Post College. On the following day the men returned with a larger group. These men became the founders of Sigma Beta Espilon. It was decided at that meeting to name the newly organized group the Alpha Club, until such time as they established a constitutlon and decided on a name. Thus Sigma Beta Epsilon fra- ternity was formed. On April 12, 1956, the members of the organization met again with Professor Behymer an they were all formally initiated into the brotherhood of Sigma Beta Epsilon.
