In November of 1956, ten girls, under the guidance of Miss Lou Bunce, joined to support and promote the academic, athletic and social program of C. W. Post College, and founded Phi Delta Sorority. In five years, more than sixty girls have chosen to wear purple and white and have dedicated their four years at Post to this purpose. Among this years activities are: a Hawaiian Luau, building a Homecoming Float, adopting a Newsday family at Christmas, selling shakers at football and basketball games, participating in the inter-Sorority Sports program, and holding various cocktail and sum- mer parties. Phi Delta Phi Delta girls will also be found in most of Posts extracurricular activities such as: class ofiicers, members of Student Council, Cheerleaders, as well as being on the Deans list. In the Fall of 1960, Mrs. Edna Woolery was wel- comed as the new advisor after Miss Bunce retired from the faculty. Phi Delta has begun the process of affiliating itself with a national Sorority and hopes to receive a charter in 1962. A11 sisters are encouraged to maintain a high aver- age while taking an active interest in campus life.
