Glynn. 1961 was the year for Post College on the Foot- ball field. Leading Post to its first winning season with a 6-3 record were Seniors McEnany, Smith, Siino, McDonald, Benedetto, Brennan, and Wittine. The charges of Coach Dr. Roy Ilowit and his staff Won their first three encounters before dropping a one point verdict to Swarthmore College. One of the other two losses was a point decision to Bridgeport Univer- Slty. In the annual Thanksgiving day battle with Hofstra College, the Pioneers dropped their third and last of the year. . Some of the highlights of the season were the six WlnS, including a touchdown upset over Ithaca College, Football and the spectacular running of Bryan Smith and Phil Siino. Smith set many of Posts scoring records after a lay-otf of one year. Next season should be a big one for the Pioneers, with the return of lettermen and a host of tine sopho- mores. Leading the team should be fullbacks Bill Mattola, and Andy Brennan, and quarterbacks Frank Scicchatano and Vin Salamone. Doing most of the line work will be J ohn Zureck, Jim Boggs, and Bill Russo. Phil Wolfrom and Chuck Balestrino will run from the end positions. As in 61, 1962 should be a banner year for the C. W. Post football team.
