Senior 611155 Prophecy Someone said that there were no signs of success in the hearts and minds of those 1956 at Eppes High. Could it have been you? Oh, yes, no doubt, but do you know ----- - - d f' d s man of m fellow graduates as I could. I am, While making my world tour, Idecide to in a y Y incidently, Carol Graye. My first ambition was to travel back to North Carolina. As I stopped by the new broadcasting station in Raleigh, I was amazed to find that John Greene is a news commentator. David Gilbert is president of Ford Motor Company there. Rudy Streeter is a pharmacist in his own drugstore in ur found two of my classmates in Greensboro at A. and T. College. Valeria Langley and Frank NOIIiS are band instructors there. Claretta Ward and Barbara Daggs are music instructors at Ligon High School. Boarding my plane for the North, I was surprised to find that my airline hostess was Shirley Taylor. She told me that Queenie Hemby is also an airline hostess with TWA. In Washington, D.C, , I found Argie Keel and Pearlie Turnage, both successful beauticians. At Freed- man's hospital in Washington were Bessie Eaton and Doris Round11'ee. Bessie is supervisor of nurses, and Doris is laboratory technician. On a casual tour of the Supreme Court Building, I ran into the surprise of surprises - - Grant Wilcox was sitting on the Supreme Court bench. Myrtle Short and Mildred Hunt, too, are nurses. They are employed, in the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. Also at the hospital is Carolyn Reeves, a fine surgical nurse. Two of our most prosperous electronic engineers today are Freddie Outterbridge and John Sumrell now D barn, and Matthew Barnhill is a lawyer. I in Chicago. DeRoy Gorham is a brilliant young architectural engineer in Lansing, Michigan. James Lewis and Coniel Holiday are well known electrical engineers in Durham, New Hampshire. William Moore is a very successful draftsman in Cleveland, Ohio. He recently designed one of the most beautiful hotels there. Who would ever think that Bernice Moore would be a case worker? She is, and a fine one, too. I last saw her in Muncie, Indiana. Among my classmates who wanted to attend business schools were William McGlone, now a realtor in Memphis, Tennessee, Bernice Banks, a public stenographer in Denver, Colorado, and Hilliard Staton, a certified public accountant in Arkansas. We thought that Willie Jones would be an actor, but he's a famous civil lawyer in Minneapolis, Minne- sota, Rovena Hardy now applies her artistic ability on people's heads, She's a well known hair stylist in Kansas City, Kansas. Benjamin Johnson and Billy Lynch graduated from Meharry Medical College with very high honors as dental technicians. Anna Hunt is a stenographer in their office in Portland, Maine. Visiting the University of California, I found Mamie Dickens teaching business education there. Ruby Joyner and Andrew Gorham both are progressive physical education teachers at the high school in Berkeley, California. Leaving the state I met Catherine Foreman en route to the Far East, where she is engaged in mission- ary work. Mamie Johnson is in Paris assisting Christian Dior, the noted dress designer, and believe it or not, Veree Harris is his favorite model. Virginia Newton is a cosmetologist. She has her own salon on the Champs Elysees. All Europe was agog over the new play, starring Elwood Kilp, at the new Globe Theatre in London. I had to see it, and I'm glad I did, for the dynamic actor was none other than our promising Kilpatrick. Serving our country are Lieutenant Mary Tyson in the U, S, Air Force, Captain Harvey Darden in the marines, and General Shelton B. Wilson in the army. Althea Duncan is being kept very busy operating her nursery in Germany. Bertha Gaye is an X-ray technician at a near by hospital. My transportation was furnished by the Commander-in-Chief of the Naval Air Force, who is, as you guessed, my husband Clennie Cox. - - - - - - - Now in 1966, as I gaze over those ten years, I marvel at the success of my classmates.
