ANCING THE IGHT AWA One hundred and seventy-five people danced the night away at this year's Homecoming dance on October 24th. The dance was sponsored by the Drill Team and the Athletic Boosters. IMPRGVI G OUR CULTURE f We have three exchange students improving the culture of our school this year. They are: Sumati Marx from Germany, Laerka Hansen from Denmark, and, Maria Suarez from Spain. Laerka is the sister of Roon Hansen, who was one of our exchange students last year. They went to Florida for the Danish National Water Ski Team. Sumati, a junior, really enjoys going to Brewer. She especially likes the variety of subjects and all the sports. She is on the girl's tennis team. She misses her family ve much, but feels they are proud of her being able to have this experience. Maria is a senior from Spain. She likes America because it is differ ng f m Spain and it gives her a chance to meet new people. She feels that her family igglad she has had the opportunity to learn about America and the English language. MR. AND MISS BHS Whenever you see the word RUMBUL attached to a 1979 yellow mustang, you know that Rich Dear is somewhere around. Because of his unique qualities, Rich was chosen to represent the class of '88 as Mr. BHS. Rich is very dedicated to his school. He is not onl a member of academic clubs, but is also involved with social clubs and varsity sports. Rich was Sophomore and junior Class Treasurer and is now Senior Class President. He has also been a member of several clubs. These include National Honor Societ , Student Council, Language Club, Computer Club, YAC, Key Club, and is a fine athlete. He has participated in basketball - 2 yrs., Varsit football - 3 yrs., baseball, and track - 4 yrs. Rich has also received honors for his academic and athletic achievements. Society of Distinguish American High School Stu- dents, Who's Who amon American High School Students, Amer- ican Legion Boys State, Al?-Distric Linebacker, All-Distric Outfielder and the Harris Rating System predicted him to be on the All-State Team. Last year his teammates voted him Most Conscientious and his classmates voted him Class Favorite his So homore and junior years. When asked about graduation, Rich salts I am looking forward to graduating. I'm ready to make some new friends, but I don't want to ose all my old ones. 'U I- . -me if km ull Tonja Alsbrooks known as Suzie Q, to her closest friends has been elected Mrs. B.H.S. of the 1987-88 year. She was also selected as Football Sweatheart. Tonja has a wide range of skills. Her gymnastic talents contribute to her cheerleading abilities. Tonja is Head Cheer- leader this year and has been on the varsity squad for three years. Besides her cheerleading and gymnastics. She is also involved in many school activities. Tonja is a member of National Honor Society, Y.A.C. Club and the Society of Dis- tinguished American High School Students. She was also Sophomore Class Secretary and junior Class Recording Sec- retary. Her classmates honored her with a nomination of Homecoming Court and elected her as sophomore and junior Class Favorite. When asked about graduation, Tonja said, l am ready for graduation so that I can move away and experience things for myself.
