When starting a new decade and a new year, the Bear Tracks Staff chose to make the year book full of new beginnings. The sponsor, Mr. Ballard, began his first year with five returning members and twelve rookies. Together the staffs strived for fresh ideas to make the 1980-81 Bear Tracks the best annual in the history of Brewer High School. The annual staff sponsored the first annual Bohemian Beach Party and Dance. The attire was centered in shorts, sunglasses, and other beach clothes. The dance featured the ever-popular Seymour Lebowitz, better known as Phillip Kezerle, in a gorilla costume. Also sponsored by the annual staff was the Cinderfella contest. Nine brave guys strutted their stuff in competition for Miss Cinderfella. The young maidens competed in talent, wet T-Shirt, evening gown, and question and answer contests. The competition was stiff, but Penelope Puddintay, alias Happy Cameron, was named Miss Cinderfella 1981. Runners up were Try-Me Guy and Henrietta Hickey. After school get-togethers and Parton's Pizza were familiar to many of the devoted staffers. Lots of time and effort was called for to meet the deadlines. Nearing the final deadline in February, everything had to be completed, It was a hectic time for all, especially for the editor-in-chief, Kehley Howeth, who spent many hours just getting organized. Though the year has flown by, the Annual Staff has done their best to capture the memories and events of 1980-81 and put together Volume 28 of the Bear Tracks. The annual staff hopes that you get many hours of enjoyment from your yearbook. Back Row: Philip Kezerle, Susie Spurlock, Robert Mitchell, Cathy Patterson, lulie Gregory, jerry Longino.
