Pep Rallies Boost Spirit Confetti, signs, posters, streamers and Blue and White decorations are all a big part of pep rdhes Hawngtheuadmond'KR3Cadencef'one by one the band takes their places. The fight song is heard and the football team, both l,V. and Varsity, make their entrance. Cheers, yells, and shouts for victory are heard as the pep raHy begns Even though the afternoon pep rallies are not as crowded as the ones in the morning, there is no lack ofspmt To pep the students up, the cheerleaders start chants and do cheers. Enthusiasm grows as the assembly gets underway. Each week, to the enjoyment of the students, either the majorettes, drillteam, or flag corps perform one of their field routines. The Brewer Band plays a few selections each week as well as participating in the cheering sessions. The crowds show their appreciation with applause. There is always competition at pep rallies. Each class tries to outdo the other. This is a way of showing who has theinostspkHgconsequenUy,a spmtsuck is awarded to the group which best demonstrates enthusiasm at the pep rally. In the past athletes were not allowed to participate in this portion of the rally. Hovveven as of mte,the coaches have allowed the football players to break their concenuadon and boostthek nkxmesto get mentally prepared for the game. 12 Pep Rallies Everyone joins in singing the School Song. ightlife Gffers Variety for Students The squeal of tires, bright lights, and crowded back seats were all a part of Friday and Saturday nights for many students. After football games, there are always fun-loving people gathering at Pizza lnn, McDonalds, Taco Bueno, Taco Bell, the Sonic, or almost any other place that stays open late. A new Cinema V in White Settlement provided variety in the night life of the city. At last, people did not have to drive to Western Hills to see an indoor movie. So much vitality was created by the victorious football games that just grabbing a bite to eat did not suffice for many students. Sometimes they would gather in the McKinney Auditorium parking lot. Camp loy also became one of the main places that attracted the rowdy Bear fans. While there they could swing in the swings, andjust enjoy the night visiting and cutting up, sometimes a few even chose to go for a swim. As Henry David Thoreau once said, ul have Nightlife
