. . . Brewer kept up with its high ideals and better teaching in the sixties by providing students with more activities and an even higher level of education. The students of the late fifties were soon launched into the space age of thc sixties. ln 1963 the tenth Senior Class gave as a school gift, the stone hear located in the stadium. The mascot still stands today, though slightly disfigured, as proof of the endurance and strength of Brewer High School. ln that same year, as the U.S. became involved in the Vietnam War, many students felt a strong patriotic responsibility to their country. Later however, as this patriotism turned into frustration and violence across the country, Brewer studcn ts were reminded of their loyalty always to the school. The war ended with a sigh of relief, but the problems continued as Brewer shouldered its way into the seventies.
