Basketball Rounds Out Season The 1977-78 Panther Basketball Team was one that began with limited experience and progressed steadily throughout the year. The Panthers started off fast with 4 wins opening the season and closed fast with 4 wins in their last 5 games for a 5- 5 district record and third place in the South Zone. The high point of the season was a victory over the 10 AAA South Zone winner, Carver at Carver handing them their only district loss, followed by a 15 point shellocking of traditional rival Humble, which knocked the Wildcats out of district contention. The Panthers, with only one returning letterman, finished the season with a I4-16 season record and third place finish in district play. I ve got it now! Carl Grafte guards the ball.
