Mr. Grover C. Koffman Principal On October 21, 1949, our Principal was signaliy honored. In recognition of thirty years as Principal of Shreveport High Schools, the Mayor of the City proclaimed this day Grover C. Koffman Day. Events are pictured on the facing page. The Day, which was also Homecoming Day, opened with the traditional assembly, which was attended by Byrd graduates of years past. After the assembly a parade was held in downtown Shreveport honoring Mr. Koffman and the five members of the faculty who have served with him the entire thirty years. At the Rotary Club luncheon the original certificate. signed by Mayor Clyde Fant, proclaiming Grover C. Koffman Day, was presented. At 5:30 a banquet for all citizens of Shreveport was held in the Crystal Ballroom of the Washington-Youree Hotel. The closing event of this memorable day was the Homecoming game, Byrd vs. Bolton, at which time Mr. Koffman crowned the Homecoming Queen. At the half Mr. Jake Hanna, a Byrd graduate, presented to Mr. Koffman a new Mercury, an expression from the citizens of Shreveport of their high regard for him. Truly this day will be remembered by all as one of the most outstanding events of the school year, honoring a man whom we all love, Grover C. Koffman. THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF Ttvelve Miss Nellie V.
