The seventh grade girls' track team had a strong program which helped them set several meet records. They placed 3rd in the Round Rock Jr. Relays with Toni Williams break- ing a meet record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.64 told record-13.951, The 400 meter relay team, composed of Kim Alford, Marilyn McWithey, Sarah Womble, and Kierstin Kile broke another meet record with a time of 56.66 told record-57.09l. They received 1st place in the Doug Hall Relays and another 1st at the Taylor Track Meet. The records made at the Doug Hall Meet were Toni Williams, 100 meter dash-13.93, 200 meter dash-29.363 Kierstin Kile, triple jump-31f7'A 5 Kim Alford, Kierstin Kile, Sarah Wom- ble, Toni Williams, 400 meter relay-54.70. Overall, they placed 2nd in district behind a very strong Temple team. Working as a team, the eighth grade girls' track team lacked strength, but they had several good individual run- ners. Samantha Mercer set two records, one at the Round Rock Jr. Relays in 100 meter hurdles-17.48 told record- 17.551, and another at the Doug Hall Meet in the 100 meter hurdles-17.73. The high point girls on both the seventh and eighth teams were, 7th: Kierstin Kile, Sarah Womble, Toni Williams, Kim Alford, Terri Douglas, Angie Young. Sth: Samantha Mercer, Terri Jean, Gilianne Carter, and Susan Stockdal. The seventh grade boys' track team represented CDFMS very well as they were in competition for several meet cham- pionships. They won many ribbons and medals during the season. Their progress was amazing. The entire team is eagerly awaiting next year's season. Records set this season were as follows: Eric Detrick, 100 meter dash-12.455 Pat Brindle, 100 meter hurdles-18.093 Eric Detrick, 200 meter dash-26.035 Eric Detrick, 400 meter dash-59.575 An- dy Combs, 800 meter run 2219.855 Charles Kuhl, Andy Combs, Jessie Gadison, Eric Detrick, 400 meter relay-50.80. The eighth grade boys' track team surged ahead of their predecessors, placing 3rd in district over four other teams, leaving last year's last place 3 point position behind for ever. This was a track rebuilding year with the end results showing at vast improvement for the previous year's perfor- mance both as a team and individually. Greg Utley, district champion, won 4 out of his 5 outings in the 300 meter hurdles with a best time of 42.02. Mike Almazon, Ray Cumings, James McGregor, and Get Utley placed 2nd in district in the 400 relay with a best time of 47.84. Kevin Metcalf's best throw in the discus this season was 126'4'A inches. The 1600 meter relay members were Greg Utley, Mike Almazon, Scott Jones, and James McGregor. Their best time was 3.47.84 Outstanding in the 200 meter dash, James McGregor won 3 out of his 5 outings. He added points to the team score in sprint relay, long jump, and high jump. The 400 meter relay team won 1st place with a record set- ting 48.25 at the Round Rock Jr. Relays. Greg Utley won four 1st places in the 300 hurdles and set records all four times. The 1600 meter relay team came in 2nd behind Chisholm Trail with a time of 3.47.5, both teams breaking the existing record. 34 BCH 5 asm Greg Utley looking good. Eric Detrick giving his all.
