Mr. Mc- Neil made the opening remarks which prov- ed to be an inspiration as the girls went on to beat Williamston 30-2 that afternoon. Opening day ceremonies heralded the coming of a championship team whose league record would sdon be 11 and l. Ceremonies included the National Anthem played by Mr. G. on his accordion, accompanied by jamie Cutler, Vic Betterly, Re- nee Cormier, and Renee Caldwell. Mr. G. also played Take Me Out To The Ball Game while the teams warmed up. 1 5 -4... -N- Mrs. Grinbergs read an original poem with reference to Ms. Colemans coaching career at Byron and Ms. Coleman cut the ribbon to officially open Riverside Stadi- um. The privilege of pitching the first ball was given to Miss Hardenberg. The Girls' Softball team finished the season as league champions.

The Girls Softball team had remarkable team unity this year. They even had a theme song. Boogie F ever' which was played before and after every game.
