Long hours after school, writing, arranging, hoping, and dreaming all bind our book together. These ingredients make our yearbook a valuable possession to all who share in it. It is only appropriate, therefore, that the yearbook be dedicated to someone who has shared with us all the complexities and struggles, the pleasures and satisfactions, of completing our high school years. There is no one, we feel, who has helped us to achieve this goal more than Mr. Guiliani. Mr. Guiliani has opened many eyes to the marvels of the universe and has instilled in numerous students the desire to make science a career. We will always remember the broken test tubes, the rotten- egg gas, the hours spent Studying and the feeling of accomplishing a job well done. If the ideals Mr. Guiliani has shared with us and instilled in us are put into practice, they will help make us successful and contented people. This is what education is all about and what Mr. Guiliani has helped us toward becoming. 3 Superintendent- MR. CHARLES PEL!-IAM Dean Seniors: Your mott, The past, forever gone, the future still our own. raises questions of the relationship of the past, the present, and the future. Certainly, the past is forever gone as far as changing it once it is past. This should cause one to ponder carefully his present acts, because once they are done, they are car- ved in time forever. From another aspect the past is forever with us. The reputations we build, the development of the potentials within us, even our very personality is composed of our de- cisions and acts of the past. Memories of our past come to bless or haunt our present. Thus our present acts ought to be done with care and forethought because even though they immediately become part of the past, they never leave us. The future IS still our own. But each of us has only a limited amount of it to use. We should plan our share of the future carefully. Do you value life? Then do not squander time For time is the stuff That life is made of. Very truly yours, QM-at C' ' Alton C. Smith As the day of graduation draws nearer, a new mode of living will begin for each of you. The end of one era is the beginning of another, this has always been so, it is the pattern of our existence. On some future date you may once again read this message and re- flect upon the many phases of life through which you have passed. Your experience in school were brief and many fine teachers have influenced your thoughts but what you are at that time is up to you and the effort you have made. If I may leave you with one bit of philosophy, the following poem expresses it most clearly. If you can't be a highway, then just be a trail. If you can't be the sun, be a star. It isn't by size that you win or you fail. Be the best, of whatever you are. Best wishes to the graduates of 1971. J ,D, , ZZ fiy Charles W. Pelham Superintendent of Schools i Principal- MR. ALTON SMITH L These Men Manage and Provide Service BACK ROW: Mr. Robert Stacey, Mr. Ronald Heath, Mr. Robert Braden, Mr. William Oliver, FRONT ROW: M.r. Gordon Crawford, Treas., Mr. john Sill, Pres., Mr. Paul Anibal, Sec. 5 These men dedicate their time and effort to making our school a better one. The worrying and the long hours spent in making decisions go unre- warded for the most part. Sometimes, however, we pause and realize how much these men are doing for us. Then, we are aware that we owe them a great deal and can offer only our deepest thanks. fx ' ..4 . , . 5? R ' l- Qi- X N. ,.,, Ag, sg Helping Us to Prepare for Tomorrow MR- HARRY WHITEHEAD u MRS.
