Hot school dances made temperatures rise Temperatures rose at special times during the year when Byron girls and guys and stu- dents from other schools got together to cele- brate good times through dancing. Various school groups sponsored these dances. Student Council, Spanish Club, the Senior Class, Pom Pons, Cheerleaders, and other groups provided opportunities for students to heat things up and have a good time. Students were slow to warm up to a good time, however. A typical dance would see very few dance during the first hour since most stu- dents were not anxious to be the first ones on the dance floor. After that hour, however, the spirit caught fire and everyone would have a good time sweating and gyrating to the beat. Most dances attracted around 100 students.
