the byron high school football team had a very successful season, the tigers finished the season at six wins and three losses, they were four and three in the conference which was good for a third- place finish. byron was in the running for a conference championship until the last two weeks of conference play when they were snuffed out by playoff-bound polo and Oregon. the tigers were led by a senior-oriented offensive line and the hard running of chuck bingham, tim johnson, and gary zoet. the tigers placed five members on the mid-northern all-conference team, they were seniors alan bain, miks carter and gary zoet. ju- niors were chuck bingham and tracy nelson, all-area recognition was given to mike stine as a place kicker, and chuck bingham was accorded honorable mention as a running back. co-captains were alan bain and gary zoet. the team voted gary zoet as most valuable player, and gene dalton received recogni- tion as most improved player. dean wolfe fights off a tackle. 9 % t tfW chuck charges through opponents
