VARSITY FOOTBALL FRONT ROW L. TO R: M. Tudor, D. Dockins, D. Ham- mond, R. Rissman, C. John- son, M. Streff. SECOND ROW: D. Wilmaith, R. Groves, D. Zoet, R. Roberts, D. Jackson, F. Johnson. THIRD ROW: Coach Stine, F. Reagan, D. Hughes, G. Zoet, B. Hoglund, R. Groves, Coach Hosier. FOURTH ROW: J. Johnson, J. Barton, D. Reber, D. McCaslin, A. Smith, M. Becker, J. Hayden, V. Adams. A winning attitude was the difference this year as the varsity football team was in the race for the conference title until the last game of the season. Although they didn't quite reach their goal, they tied for second place along with Winnebago. The Tigers ended the year with a 6-1-1 record, and their only loss came to conference champion Forreston. The next few years look very promising with many awaiting players coming up from the fresh-soph team. This year's most valuable player was Dave Jackson and Russ Groves was the most improved player. Verne Adams, Dave Jackson, and Jim Hayden were chosen All-Conference on the de- fensive unit, while Doug Reber was chosen All- Conference in the offensive backfield. Co- captains for this year were Dave Zoet and Dave Jackson. 13

FRESH-SOPH FOOTBALL FRONT ROW L. TO R: A. Brown, D. Reimer, G. Wilmarth, G. Drake, B. Leary, B. Revell, C. Wes- tcott, P. Jackson, SECOND ROW: M. Stine, S. Scho- on, M. Jones, S. Rissman, M. Eyetalis, A. Bain, C. Anderson. THIRD ROW: Coach Janes, C. Tunnell, D. Wolfe, T. Nelson, T. Billeter, J. Barton, D. Aliprandini, Coach Liggett. FOURTH ROW: D. Anspach, R. Stukenburg, S. Tunnell, D. Ingram, G. Zoet, M. Carter, C. Bingham. An abundance of experience and few crucial injuries clearly describes this year's Fresh-Soph football team. With many sophomores coming back and a few key freshmen, the Cubs began the year with a solid ball club. But a couple of costly injuries midway through the year turned the team's momentum completely around. The 1976 Cubs finished with a respectable record of 4-3, although they never fully played up to their capability in the last four games. On defense, Gary Zoet led the team in tackles with a total of seventy-one. The outstanding leading rusher on offense was Chuck Bingham with 481 yards. Mike Eyetalis was the team's leader in pass receiving with a total of 74 yards. 12

Moonshine, haybales, pumpkins and streamers—where else would you find these but at the annual Sadie Hawkins dance! The day was Saturday, November 13, and attendance was up from previous years. Guys and gals danced to the music of Shotgun Rivers from WROK. During the evening, judges Kim Anderson, Kathy Ashby, Judy Dem- ing, and Michele Limberg gave first, second, and third place ribbons to Peggy Zimmerman and Steve Rissman, Cindy Reimer and Craig Meyers, and Hedii Jeter and Tim Wiltfang for corsages. Costume prizes went to Connie Behmer and Joe Bolin, Kim Cato and Dave Kampas, and Cathie Westcott and Mike Becker. The judging was followed by the traditional chase, when captured guys were taken by their dates to the Marryin Sams, Kathy Ashby and Michele Limberg. There they received wire chicken rings and certifi- cates to remind them of their hitching More dancing followed, and the F. H. A., who sponsored the dance, termed the night as very successful. 14
