Hughes, T. Tallman, F. Carter, D. Jack- son, R. Ginger. The Cubs completed their season this year with a record of 10 wins and 12 losses, a successful showing for an in- experienced team. The record did not tell the complete story, however, as many of their losses were by narrow margins. Team captain and Most Valuable Player was Brad Haye, who also led the team in total points scored, with 291 for the season. Brad also led the team in offensive rebounds, but center Steve Norup recovered the most missed shots on defense. The team shot an average of 38.5 percent from the floor and 52.5 percent from the charity stripe. Letter winners on the squad included Haye, Norup, Jeff Cunningham, Don Hughes, Dave Zoet, Joe Kean, Fred Carter, Todd Tallman, and Randy Pederson. Byron fans can expect an even better record when this team hits the varsity level of competition. 9

Ron also lead all scorers with 324 points and lead the team in rebounds on both the offensive and defensive boards. He was also selected for the all-Tournament team at Durand. The outlook for future teams looks bright, however, as Coach Drake chose to bring up two underclassmen to compete on the Varsity team. Jeff Meline, a freshman, finished the season with 197 points, and Jim Landis, a sophomore, finished with 98 points. Commendable performances were also turned in by Gary Anspach, Randy Garman, Mike Landis, and Ric Toops.
