SPEECH CLUB FRONT ROW L TO R: T. Hess, Duet Acting; J. Jeff- rey, Prose. SECOND ROW: T. Dyer, Prose; R. Jeffrey, Duet Acting; D. Sincox, Duet Acting; D. Jacobs, Prose. FRONT ROW LTO R: K. Cacciatore, Humerous In- terp.; R. Falk, Verse, Duet Acting. SECOND ROW: N. Hoffman, Serious; L. Tallman, Serious; R. Wil- marth, Humerous Interp. It was an excellent year for the Speech Club--they proved that you don't have to be from Boylan to win. Yes, it was a winning season. The speech team even won its own meet here in Byron after competing with eleven other schools. The team's total of 168 points just edged Boylan's 165. Two contestants went to compete in the state finals. Sara Hamer competed in original monologue and Terry Dyer in prose reading. Placing seventh out of twenty schools in the Ro- chelle Invitational meet, the team was quite happy with their successful day. But alas, the majority of the members this year were seniors, which means next year's team will be lacking. Why don't you, the reader, go see Mr. Mc- Names, whom the team fondly referred to as Dad. I'm sure there is an event that is right for you. FRONT ROW LTO R: D. Cacciatore, O. Oration; D. Leary, Radio; M. Eickert, O. Oation. SECOND ROW: J. Storz, Oratorical Dec.; J. Eickert, Mono- logue; M. Wonzong, Radio; S. Hamer, Radio, Monologue. 28

TIGERETTES As time passes, things change; so did the Byron Drill Team. This year the girls bought new uniforms and learned many different routines from their cap- tain, Donna Cacciatore. With our high school band, the girls performed at half-time during all home foot- ball games. They also performed during the half- time of all home basketball games, and marched in the Homecoming and Memorial Day parades. The last game of the season marked the selection of Mary Kobel as the new captain for next year. This game also marked the final appearance of the senior members of the team: Ruthe Falk, Cindy Haye, Terry Dyer, Debbie Jacobs, Sara Hamer, Candy Mil- lard, Linda Camling, Debbie McGhee, Randi Wil- marth, Anne Ripplinger, Mary Eickert, and Donna Cacciatore.
