Coach Vance can expect to lead the 1965 edition of the Tigers into Conference title contention with the help of 13 returning letterwinners. Although it was not a winning season in the sense of games won and lost, it was in many other ways, such as the Tigers placing a number of players on the All-Conference team and their first Homecoming Game victory in six years. Their first success was the half-time shows on the football field- performances which took plenty of after school rehearsals. The concert band presented two performances--’ the Christmas and Spring Concerts, and they had an exchange day with Winnebago. The dance band, a new division this year, played for a dance at the Faust Hotel. The band had several money making projects along with their busy schedule. 6 48 Mixed Chorus ROW 1, Left to Right: D. The crowd assem- bled in the business district for a few rousing cheers, then joined hands, and the snake dance headed for the foot- ball field. The pep rally and the music by the band ended Friday evening's activities. The cheerleaders riding in the coach's car led the parade Saturday, October third, followed by the band and the drillteam. Floats gaily decorated to emphasize the theme of victory for the Byron Tigers and representing the four classes and the Varsity Club were next in line. Last were the king, queen and members of the court, riding in open convertibles. Hard fighting proved to be helpful in the smashing victory over the Eagles. Our great Tigers defeated them by a score of 14-13. After cheering the Tigers to victory, everyone enjoyed the dance, Knight of My Dreams.
