Class Prophecy In the year 1971, ten years after graduation of the class of 1961, our roving reporter is checking up on the lives of the members of that wonderful class. Roberta Lingel and Ethel Sheely have taken the nation's capitol by storm. Roberta is taking a letter from the Vice-President who is a bachelor. Ethel has now advanced to the head of the President's secretarial staff and every morning sits on his lap to review the plight of the nation. New York has also been blessed with some of our budding geniuses. Several schools have been set up there; among them are Muriel McKee's modeling school, Larry Jones's school to teach how to curl hair, and Alan Schabacker's school for villianous characters. Lyle Lee is starring on the Jack Parr show after having practiced whistling songbird calls. Sharon Varilek is an actress on Hollywood's Let's Walk The Line show. She occasion- ally sees Phil Hayenga who is owner of Gunsmoke's livery stable. Also out West are Betty Houpt and her husband. They are running a horse ranch and rodeo. Living in Chicago are Dick Harbeck, editor of Mad Magazine, (He's just raised sub- scription rates and the country is rebelling.), Dixie Palmer who is reaping profits on her latest best seller on men, and Marcie Evans who is running an elevator in Marshall Field's and telling everyone to face forward. Travel has attracted many of the members of that famous class. Joyce Ekstrom is flying coast to coast for TWA. Max Reed is running his own carnival. Mary Engelkes is a state trooper and has just been awarded a medal for catching the most speeders. Martha Merson, after a trip around the world, is now settled down in France trying to catch a romantic Frenchman. Science has given two members their livelihood. Sue Wilson is on an experimental test flight to the moon and Jerry DeVries has won acclaim for his formula on how to keep out of work. 19

Class Will I, Martha Merson, leave my voice and my whistle to the next drill team captain. Use them in good faith. I, Dixie Lee Palmer, leave to Jeanie Johnston my ability to conduct the G. A. A. meet- ings in an orderly manner. Remember the wild times, Jeanie? I, Max Reed, leave to anyone that wants it my seat in English IV. I, George Reeverts, leave chair No. 1 at Dick Nally's to anyone who likes the George Bums and Grace Allen show and also they must like a noon weed . I, Ken Reeverts, leave my parking place at school to anyone who owns a Ford. I, Alan Schabacker, leave my height to Jerry Parks, so he can see what it is like in the underworld. I, Ethel Sheely, leave to Dale Riley all the fun that I have had in my Senior year and all the noise on the bus. I, Carol Snyder, leave to Darlene Blanchard my space in locker 95. Good luck at Byron High--you'll need it. I, Dennis Stobart, leave my locker to a person who really needs it, Loren Colloton. I, Sue Wilson, leave to Byron High my tour sisters. Take good care of the school. I, George Wisely, leave my ability to create a rucus in Mrs. Merson's study hall to anyone who is taking English IV and wishes to take it again. I, Philip Hayenga, leave my ability to drop kick a football 40 yards to Coach Nelson. Added to his 42 yards this total will be the longest kicked football in history, I, Larry Jones, leave to Becky Morrison the ability to reach the upper part of a locker. I, Charles Quarton, leave the car to my dad so he can use it. I, Mary Kay Noyes, leave to Ilene Marchant my ability to get along with people in 5th hour P. E. Have fun! I, Linda Winterton, leave my congeniality to Dianne Stakenburg. Use it wisely! 18

Class Prophecy Medicine, too, has attracted two members. Dennis Freedlund is interning in a hospital where they train student nurses and Cathy Hardenbrook is head technologist in a medical lab in DeKalb. Quite a few have stayed at home in Byron instead of venturing out into the world. Bill Fruin is coaching the highly rated basketball team here and John Shank has opened a gym- nasiam and pool hall just outside the city limits. Bobbie DeShazo has finally graduated from beauty school and is joining Linda Winterton in her beauty shop next month. Nancy Campbell is running the White Pines Rollar Palace. Bill Michauz has gone into partnership with his father and is pulling the teeth; Byron is now toothless. There are several competitive grocery stores in Byron. George Reeverts is owner of the Cash and You Carry and Dennis Brantner is owner of the Credit and Carry. Dennis is pro- fiting because of a high interest rate. Terry Garman is running the after hours store. The school system is happy (?) to have George Wisely to teach their five 3B English classes. The school is also blessed with five up-and-coming football players, sons of Mary Kay Noyes. Patsy Capes is doing a stupendous business in the family restaurant. Jim Kilmer has just set a new record in gasoline sales at the Cory's Bluff station. Charlie Quarton is now successful in politics being elected the city dog catcher. (He specializes in catching good 'coon hunting dogs.) Ken Reeverts is now running a completely automatic farm which can be controlled from his favorite arm chair. That just about raps u----wait!!! FLASH! Hot off the teletype!! Carolyn Snyder is now Dennis the Menace's girl friend. SPONSORED BY GARY ROBERTS BALLET SCHOOL ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS
