Cfaaaea Homemakers of the Future The first weeks in Home Economics were filled with many experiences. Those girls who at the beginning of the year could not sew a straight seam or even boil water were completely reformed. At the end of the year the girls emerged brilliant seamstresses, wonderful cooks—the homemakers of the future. Office Practice Class at Work 5

C ai ei ON OUR WAY TO CLASS Like The Halls of Montezuma the halls of Byron High will remain famous in the memory of all who have traveled there. As year follows year, a certain pattern repeats itself. As each new year begins, new faces greet us. The freshmen, strange and uncertain wrestle with locker combinations and unfamiliar class schedules. In a few weeks, however, uncertainty disappears and, as one student body, we fill the halls to overflowing with hurried dashes from class to class. Locker mates meet and carry on a hectic, mad scramble for books and supplies. Like friends on a busy street, students pause to greet a classmate or exchange the latest news. News bulletins flash up and down the corridors and are thus carried from one end of the building to the other. The very walls will remain impressed upon our memories. The ever changing placards command attention. Posters and signs constantly announce coming events. As we walk down other halls in years to come, it is safe to say that we will many times be reminded of the crowded corridors of Byron High School. 4

Clamed The General Business class under Mr. Varblesdirection explored the fields of business—money, banking, savings and investments, insurance, and other phases of business. By the end of the year the students had mastered the fundamentals of business and were prepared to do advance work in bookkeeping, shorthand, typewriting, and economics.
