CLASS HISTORY In September 1951, our class came into the doors of Byron Commu- nity High School as thirty-five meek little Freshmen. After four years we have built up to a roar as we leave now in June 1955. Our Freshman class officers were: Roger Reeverts, President; James Swanson, Vice-President; Kathy Myers, Secretary; Marjorie Brumley, Treasurer; Scott Walker and Nancy Butt, Student Council. The big events in our Frehsman year were; Initiation, our Algebra parties, and then treating the Sophomores with a picnic and skating party at White Pines. Our Sophomore year we felt like seasoned pros after one whole year in high school. We elected as our class officers: Marvin Dennis, President; James Swanson, Vice-President; Allan Cain, Secretary; Marjorie Brumley, Treasurer: David Johnson and Nancy Butt, Student Council. The big events of this year were the initiation for the Freshmen and then being treated back by them with a picnic and skating party at the White Pines. Then our Junior year we were among the proud upper-classmen. Our Class officers for that year were: James Swanson, President; Robert Boyer, Vice-President; Nancy Butt, Secretary; Marjorie Brumley, Treasurer; Karen Eickman and Allan Cain, Student Coun- cil. Our activities and responsibilities also started to pick up. This year we sponsored the Christmas Dance, and we had Jim Campbell and his orchestra, with the theme, Snow Balls We made more money on the dance than any other class in Byron High. We were in charge of the coke and candy sales at all the different events. The other big event of the year was the Junior-Senior Banquet. We held our at the Hotel Lafayette in Rockford, and had Vernon Lux, a magician as entertainer. Our last year we have regarded ourselves as the high and mighty Seniors. Our class officers were: RobertBoyer, President; Allan Cain, Vice-President; Barbara Sarber, Secretary; Marjorie Brumley, Treas- urer; Patsy Dietrich and Rusty Nelson, Student Council Representatives. Our first big event was the taking of our senior pictures. Our second memorial occasion was our play, Mr. Roberts. We sponsored the May Dance. We also published the Annual. We were treated to a fine Junior- Senior Banquet. We broke other records as we were winners in the magazine sales all four years. The last two years we recollected the two stuffed hound dogs to leave behind us as a remembrance of our class of 55 And our stock pile in our treasury will take us on a very enjoyable senior trip we are sure. Nine members of our class have attended the Byron schools all twelve years. Those making history together are: Janet Balle, Robert Boyer, Allen Cain, David Cox, Bill Deill, Carolyn Jackson, Roger Reeverts, Barbara Sarber and Scott Walker. CLASS PROPHECY We, Mary Rood and Marilyn Friday, being on our third trip around the world on our super sonic tricycles, decided to visit the '55 graduates of good old B. C. H. S. Here is what we found each one doing in this year of 1975. Byron was a small town in 19 55 but is now a heavily populated city. As we entered town we saw Dave Cox, the new sheriff, chasing after a teen-age speed demon. It reminded us of the days when we were in school (and he was being chased). His office is in the Town Hall, where the Byron Ink Spot is printed. Its famous editor is the now bald-headed Larry McKee. The reason for his baldness is that he worried so much over his studies that he ended up tearing his hair out. Miss Marjorie Brumley writes a column for the paper, called Advice to the Lovelorn. She had just received an air-mail letter from Bruce Billings, who is vaca- tioning in France. It seems that he has a tragic problem, he can't decide whether to return to his work as an artist for the New York Times or to concentrate on the current women (the ones in France). Next, we found the new drug store, which is on the corner of State and Main. We were thirsty, so we decided to go in fora coke. There we saw a bevy of girls gatnering around a dashing young manager! Who is none other than Marvin Dennis. We leftMarv to cope with the girls while we wandered out on the busy street once again. ZOOM! Down the street flies two super hotrods chasing each other, one was driven by Jack Spencer and the other by Jim Snyder. W e wondered if the sheriff is still chasing that teen-ager. It seems they are the same hotrod drivers they were in high school, only now they sometimes appear on a track. Then we came to the largest and most beautiful hotel inBryon, which is owned by a tall, dark, and handsome man who we are sure you will recognize as none other than Scott Walker. Many celebrities make his hotel their headquarters. Carolyn Jackson (who was the first from our class to be married) and her husband were registered at the hotel. They told us they were on their second honeymoon. She had just given up her position as the Superintendent of The Bell Telephone Company, as she said it was too much to work and to take care of all their children. Compliments of BEN FRANKLIN STORE C. V. Johnson Owner
