U65 gazes! of gfnowfecfgs As Spring comes to the forest, new, but with its promise of growth and development, so we as freshmen entered high school, our Forest of Knowledge. The first incident of our trek along the trail of study, activity and achieve- ment was our electing Mr. Ettore Giovanetti and Miss Marjorie Hawke trail advisers. In addition, Bud McNabb, Jean Price, Shirley Davis and Howard Gronfein were selected as guides to lead us-the tenderfoot class of B. H. S. Spiritedly we pursued the early part of our journey in the wake of our trail- blazers to the attainment of a better education. Mr. Giovanetti left before the season closed and was replaced by Miss Marie Moebus. When we paused to contemplate and predict the future we observed that quickly, im- perceptibly, summer had come bringing to full foliage the trees, shrubs and flowers. Refreshed, our group of promising woodsmen moved forward on the trail to high school fame, Leadership in this summer season was entrusted to Jim Daniel, Dan Sullivan, Peggy Fisher and June Tierney. Along the way we conquered studies and activities until our group stopped at a forest lodge to enjoy the sophomore dance. Now apparent along the winding path were the beginnings of the success for which we strove so zealously. As autumn neared, our trail-makers hesitated and thought of the twisting trail ahead. Amidst the forest's ubiquitous beauty, our class continued on the way with Gene Wilson, Peggy Fisher, June Tierney and Shirley Trimble now in the lead. Our anticipation of leaving ever new and better landmarks was realized when from our ranks came leaders in scholarship, sports, music and other activities. Presenting a resounding assembly and a sparkling prom proved us worthy and capable in this, our junior year. Chill winds and snow flurries quickly succeeded the playful breezes which had carried away the russet, yellow and varicolored leaves from the trees. These crisp dry leaves rustled about our feet as we stopped to plan the final quarters of our journey through the boundless Forest of Knowledge. Cheered by the brightness and majesty of the winter season with its stimulating cold days, we felt the closeness of the forest's end and were encouraged to blaze this section of the trail even more closely than we had the other three. Miss Hawke left our ranks as trail adviser and was suc- ceeded by Miss Myrtle Stewart while the newly elected guides were Al Heim- bach, Frank Zubick, Carolyn Jean Schwartz and Shirley Fordmeir. Ac- credited seniors now, we displayed efficiency in staging a glorious Senior Formal and a royal Coronation Festival. King Bohunkus reigned upon his throne, too, as we declared an informal holiday for pleasure and fun. Our class of '46 emerged from the Forest of Knowledge, cognizant of the fact that the return of spring would reveal our trail to be continuous with the avenue of life.
