The Gym Club, under the direction of Mr. Wolfgang, makes it possible for a large number of boys to take part in athletics. The boys learn the rules of fair play and good sportsmanship in all their undertakings. They are constantly on the alert to learn new games, practice new drills, and other body-building exercises. Since the member- ship in this club is open to boys from sev- enth to twelfth grade, each year Mr. Wolf- gang has an overflow of eager and enthus- iastic aspirants. Gym work, such as calisthenics, tumbling, acrobactic maneuvers, boxing, and group games are popular and healthful activities of this organization. In the winter season, the boys are divided into groups which form an intramural basketball league. These teams and games provide a perfect outlet for the boys who have not the capabilities and experience to participate on the varsity in- terscholastic teams. Often times the boys are called upon to display their gymnastic abilities. This usually occurs when the pub-- lic is invited to Demonstration Night, when each department of the high school performs in conjunction with its particular subject.

hop and F. ll. . In the shop, students prepare themselves for work in the future by developing confidence in their ability in control and operation ot' the various machines and wood- working tools. The boys, under the careful and talented leadership of Mr. Helwig, test themselves for me- chanical interest and aptitude, and are taught minor operations in wood finishing, such as staining. shellack- ing, varnishing, and waxing. At, the end of the year, the proj- ects are put on display in the gym- nasium for everyone to see before the students take them home. The F. H. A. Club, an afliliation ot' the state and national organization, has for the past five years rendered valuable service to our school and Community. Under the competent leadership of Miss Mur- phy, whose personable qualities endear her to Students, these girls move quietly along in their many activities, leaving behind them the in- spiration for achievement and service. Included in this year's program were the Re- gion C conference at East Greenville High School, children's Christmas party, sending ol' gifts to the local hospital for distribution to the children, the annual F. H. A. clothing drive, and selling refreshments at basketball games.
