Of the many extra-curricular activities in school, one contributing many useful ideas for later life, is the Home Economics Club. This club was formed to further interest in the home and school and to develop the ability and graciousness of becoming a good hostess. During the school year each member has the opportunity of being hostess at the monthly meeting and planning the program and re- freshments. Occasionally the group has the privilege of hearing authorities on home mak- ing and personal grooming. The girls often visit stores to study modern home equipment. Stwndimgg lt. Quirk, l-'. The discussion of history. geog- raphy, and national problems all help to make the boys aware of the part they must play in an ever-changing world. The club members endeavor to increase their laxowledge of pub- lic affairs, to promote good citizenship and to encourage a higher scholastic standing in social studies.

The chief purpose of the school paper is to reflect the activities and opinions of the students. As a student publication, both the actual work and the forming of policy are handled by thc students with advice of Miss Helen MacNeil1. BUSINESS ASPIRANTS During the school year, the students of the Office Practice Club were given a wider range of experiences through the acquisition of sev- eral new business machines. Each member of this club is taught how to operate the many commercial machines now available at Butler High. If a student is in earnest and learns thoroughly what he is taught, he is capable. through this knowledge, plus the stenographic and bookkeeping courses also offered in the school, of holding any office position open to him.
