Mr. Rissler helps Jeff Myers with his mechanical drawing. A plane is a useful but dangerous tool, says Mr. Rissler. AGRICULTURE The agricultural department in our school has made great strides in the past years. They have formed an excellent parliamentary procedure team that has brought back many honors from area contests. I der the direction and supervision of mr. Sadler, the boys learn how to be- come better farmers. There is much more than just studying from books, the boys gain experience by actually using the farm machinery. Each year the agriculture boys have several projects. This year they sold sorghum and rat poison. In such projects, they have shown cooperation and enthusi- asm which makes for a better organization. The boys are offered mechanical drawing, metal- working, and woodworking. They learn tool identification, the use of many machines that will some day help mold them into better workers for our local factories. They are also taught that safety plays a very important part when working with the electrical tools. These Ag. boys show off one of their many awards. Who says I'm angry?

Richard Houser shows his skill in reading Latin. Mrs. Hampel gives her Freshman class a hand with their English problems. LANGUAGES English is the language most stressed and taught in our school. Four years of English are now required of any student if they hope to graduate. We have a new Latin teacher this year. Many of the students have taken Latin and found it gives a very good background for English. Our high school library has taken on a new appearance in the past year. New book shelves have been added, which provide more space for all the new books that Miss Griffith has purchased just recently. She has done an excellent job of keeping our library a place where all sorts of reference material and good reading books can be found. Our library has been greatly improved this year. HOME ECONOMICS Mrs. Bently heads the home economics department and supervises all activities of that course. This year some of the boys became interested in home economics and took the course. They were fascinated to learn of all the different phases of home- making. Cooking, sewing, and baby care are just a few of the topics covered in home economics. The students are allowed to use kitchen appliances and prepare meals, which provides for a good experi- ence. Many students are interested in our school's art classes. Mr. Russell helps Judy Burkmire with her painting. These Home Ec. students are learning to be good homemakers for the years ahead. These boys prove that girls aren't the only ones interested in Home Ec. ART Many students of our school have become interested in art this past year. Much hidden talent has been revealed by many of them. Our art classes are under the supervision of our new art instructor, Mr. Russell. Ceramics, painting, leather - work, and other various forms of art are taught to the students. The art classes of the high school painted many of the store windows downtown at Halloween time.
