TROPAEUM 19 3 8 HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS The basketball season of 1937-38 proved to be one of the most interesting in the history of the school. Under the able direction of Coach Cletis Jenkins, the Windmills waded through a difficult schedule and emerged with a record of eleven games won and eight lost during the regular playing season. In the sectional tourney at Garrett, Butler was eliminated in the semi-final round by Waterloo, 43-37. Handicapped by numerous injuries, the Windmills still made a determined threat and were defeated in one of the most exciting games of the tourney. Spring sports were given a new impetus in Butler this year when the local track team participated in seven meets, most of them held at our new athletic field, which was completely re-cindered and worked into excellent condition early this season. The high school baseball team met with success again this year. Baseball and track combine to round out a very good spring sports program in Butler. The Department of Physical Education is grateful to all who make its sports program possible, and particularly to the Record-Herald for its co- operation and frequent publication of team pictures.
