The Senior class play, “Aunt Tillie Goes to Town,” was presented to two large and enthusiastic audiences on November 17th and 18th. The cast gave two splendid performances; the play was a riot of ridiculous farcical situations, moving toward a rapid climax. Eleven Seniors took part in this dramatic production, and the entire class co-operated splendidly in making “Aunt Tillie Goes to Town” a huge success. Dramatics continues to flourish in Butler High School, until it has come to be one of our most fruitful activities. This class will be long remembered for the high standards of entertainment which it set in its two dramatic presentations. The Cast: Marian Osborne, Betty Lou Miller, Glen Bonecutter, Alice Miller, Austin Pellett, Bryant Gunsenhouser, Ruth Thiel, Kent Myers, Jean Bryant, Jeannette Capp, and Annabelle Campbell. TROPAEUM 19 3 8 HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS The basketball season of 1937-38 proved to be one of the most interesting in the history of the school. Under the able direction of Coach Cletis Jenkins, the Windmills waded through a difficult schedule and emerged with a record of eleven games won and eight lost during the regular playing season. In the sectional tourney at Garrett, Butler was eliminated in the semi-final round by Waterloo, 43-37. Handicapped by numerous injuries, the Windmills still made a determined threat and were defeated in one of the most exciting games of the tourney. Spring sports were given a new impetus in Butler this year when the local track team participated in seven meets, most of them held at our new athletic field, which was completely re-cindered and worked into excellent condition early this season. The high school baseball team met with success again this year. Baseball and track combine to round out a very good spring sports program in Butler. The Department of Physical Education is grateful to all who make its sports program possible, and particularly to the Record-Herald for its co- operation and frequent publication of team pictures.
