The Annual Staff has worked diligently to give to the Faculty and the student body a yearbook that everyone will appreciate. We have tried to use our knowledge and our experi- ences to the best of our ability, in putting together this yearbook which we hope will add a bit of joy and moments of relaxation as you thumb through these pages today and years to come. The Annual Staff and I hope that you will find value in the theme which we have tried to develop throughout this issue of the Tiger. Understanding is a shared Responsibility. We strong- ly believe that understanding plays an important part around Butler and throughout life. It is not only gaining knowledge, but is also applying that knowledge in living and working together peacefully. Without understanding, there is no peace. May we continue to strive for peace, understanding and to be understood. As Editor-in-Chief I would like to thank the Annual Staff, Faculty, and Student body for their cooperation in the publica- tion of this 75-76 issue of the Tiger. Yours truly. Tommy Byrd Sue Norman Jake McNeal Jannie Commander Layout Editor Sports Editor Copy Editor 4 af tajj i lzmljzTA Dear Schoolmates, This has been a year of lasting experiences. Some were pleas- ant some were not. We learned from all of them and grow as a result of understanding. We realize that understanding is a shared responsibility and it serves its purpose best when it changes our relationship with others, and brings about situations profitable to those you get involved with and those you meet. This year serving as your Business Manager, I would like to leave this idea with you. There are treasures of knowledge un- buried, but are opened by understanding and shared responsibili- ty. Yours truly, John M. Brown I i: Fredrick Woods Organization Editor 5 )z anization± Understanding is a shared responsibility . . . When you get to know a fellow, His joys, his wants, his cares. When you are able to understand and help him Face the burdens that he bears. Understanding is a shared responsibility . . . When we learn from each other's thoughts, When we are able to talk to someone When our minds are filled with doubts. Understanding is a shared responsibility . . . When our prejudices disappears. When the love we have for each other grows Stronger through the years. But when we have this shared understanding. Then all our efforts will become creative, And our influence will live in lives of others Of which God has created. Until Tomorrow and cStafl Principal M menu Mr. Maurice Waddell Mr. James Redmond - Assistant Principal Congratulations to the Annual Staff and all others who participated in the production of this excellent collection of our fond memories. Your effort is a fine example of each individual fulfill- ing his obligation from start-to-finish. James E. Redmond 76 tiation Superintendent Hartsville Area In our continued effort to make Butler the best school anywhere, we have accepted as our goal for the year: Understanding is a shared responsibility between the school, the student, the home, and the community. In times like these, if we all could just pause for a second and work for 'UNDERSTANDING'. We can continue to be successful in making our school the best anywhere. Mr. Charles Smith , a . 74 Our country is based on the con- cept of freedom. In order to fully real- ize all of the benefits of a free society, we must accept the responsibilities that go hand-in-hand with this free- dom. Responsibility, however, is not something that can be handled by one person. It is a necessity that must be shared through understanding. As we are involved in the process of education, we all must accept our share of the responsibility by working towards mutual understanding. Only when each individual does his part in understanding his fellowman will edu- cation be successful in helping create a truly free society. T. E. C.
