We lost the Big Game for the second consec- utive year. Despite the loss, Homecoming fes- tivities continued as usual with a dance Satur- day night to present the Queen and her court. The S.G.A. sponsored dance featured Rose, a local band, and was decorated according to the theme, Always and Forever. Pat Brown was crowned 1978-79 homecoming queen during halftime of Friday night's game. The court was serenaded by the Butler band and a special bluegrass band led by assistant princi- pal Ray Steelman. above — Rebel band gets into formation for pres- entation of the homecoming court, left — Leroy Pugh, junior, escapes Huntsville defenders. opposite page — top left — Assistant Principal Ray Steelman, with harmonica, joins guitarist Tony Myers, Butler maintenance supervisor, in a bluegrass halftime show. top right — Coach John Meadows watches his last homecoming game from the sidelines, bottom — Homecoming court escorted by their fathers.
