In 1845 the legislature was reapportioned, Madison County had two representatives, and one senator—they still have the same. We’ll let Mr. Hunnicutt-D.O. and Mr. Tedford represent us in the House of Representatives. With them are Mrs. Jones-English and Speech, Mrs. Rausch- English and Mrs. Moore-Hi story and Democrary. An act was passed in 1859, authorizing the city to buy $50,000 worth of stock in the Memphis and Charleston Railroad Company. Here we see the Board of Education: Dr. Raymond L. Christian-Superintendent of Schools, Mr. A.V. Sneed, Dr. L.A. Davis, Mr. Cecil Ashburn, Mr. Richard Van Valkenburg, Mr. Tom Thrasher.
