In 1835 the second Courthouse was built. Here we find six teachers: Mrs. Womack-English, Mr. Nichols-History and Coach, Miss Wiggins-Biology and Science, Mr. Myers-Band, Mrs. Mason- English, Miss Harris-Commercial. George Steel, famous Huntsville architect, built his home on MatsVille Road in 1840. The teachers we find here are: Mrs. Roper-Physical Education, Miss James- Library, Mr. Bryant-Latin, Mrs. Stewart-English, Mrs. Woolf-English, Mr. Rogers- Shop and Coach.

The Church of The Nativity (Episcopal) was established in 1830. Above we see several of our teachers leaving the church. They are: Mr. Askins-Hi story, Miss Davis-English, Miss Payne- Mathematics, Mrs. Cooper-Mathematics, Mr. HamiIton-Government and Coach, Mrs. Frazier-Math- emaiics.

In 1845 the legislature was reapportioned, Madison County had two representatives, and one senator—they still have the same. We’ll let Mr. Hunnicutt-D.O. and Mr. Tedford represent us in the House of Representatives. With them are Mrs. Jones-English and Speech, Mrs. Rausch- English and Mrs. Moore-Hi story and Democrary. An act was passed in 1859, authorizing the city to buy $50,000 worth of stock in the Memphis and Charleston Railroad Company. Here we see the Board of Education: Dr. Raymond L. Christian-Superintendent of Schools, Mr. A.V. Sneed, Dr. L.A. Davis, Mr. Cecil Ashburn, Mr. Richard Van Valkenburg, Mr. Tom Thrasher.
