Accounting and Secretarial Work Was Handled by Oltice Stalt Marion McElroy Secretary Evelyn Shaulis Guidance Secretary Elinor Sybert Secretary Jean DiMatteo Maxine Hill Mary Powell Attendance Secretary Secretary Secretary Each day the office staff works ef- ficiently to carry out the many duties of the administration, faculty, and stu- dent body. Mrs. Hill, the receptionist, assists Mr. Shaffer, the assistant prin- cipal in charge of student activities. She also greets any person coming into the office. Miss McElroy, who is in charge of student records, transcripts, and senior graduation, has the title of office manager. Seeing that absentees and withdrawals are recorded is the iob of Mrs. DiMatteo, attendance sec- retary. Miss Thomas has the iob of keeping the books straight and also the phone calls. Secretarial duties are performed by Mrs. Sybert and Mrs. Powell. Assisting Mr. Miller in the duties of the library is Miss Williams. The guidance counselors are also aided by Mrs. Shaulis. Much of the secretaries' time is spent typing up necessary reports. Dr. Guy N. Harriger Superintendent Dr, William L. Cross Top Administrators Although Dr. Harriger, Dr. Cross, and Dr. Radaker are not often seen at Butler High, the efforts of these administra- tors are apparent here. The Superintendent of Butler Area Schools, Dr. Guy N. Harriger, acts as the chief executor for the Board of Education. He approves the employment of all personnel. The preparation of school budgets, the expenditure of funds, and the preparation of payrolls and vouchers are handled by Dr. Harriger. He carries a dual responsibility of a business and professional leader for this school system. The Director of Curriculum and Supervision is Dr. William L. Cross, who carries out special assignments made by Dr. Harriger. He is also the director of the student teaching program in Butler. He coordinates the curriculum for all grades and he selects textbooks, material, and equipment used in instruction. Dr. Leon D. Radaker serves as the School Psychologist. He deter- mines eligibility of first graders and approves home- bound instruction for disabled students. He makes per- sonality assessments for those who are involved in diffi- culties. Dr, Harriger, Dr. Cross, and Dr. Radaker all per- form special services for Butler Senior High. Dr. Leon D. Radaker Director of Curriculum and Supervision Psychologist

Cafeteria Ladies Have An Important Job Too lnez Stohuro Manager 690 Allen Woods Director of Foods Service Fourth period meant lunch to hungry students, lunch meant food, and food meant work forthe cafeteria staff. Approximately 2000 students M...-f moved quickly through the tour serving lines, and about 400 purchased food at the snack bar at - lunchtime. Thirty-four ladies, two men, and three students feverishly prepared the food so it would be served on schedule to students and teachers. 'L The snack bar, operated by the cafeteria statt, M.. also provided hot chocolate and delicious dough- . M M , N, t nuts before school, and sandwiches and ice cream after school. Women find much to talk about while preparing lunch for BHS students. Jet 707 sandwiches are second only to spaghetti at BHS. Wh.. Q it
