STANDING: Diann Stuckie, Fran Streitman, David Herlinger, David Renfrew, Malcolm Signer. Click! Click! The orchestra leader tapped his baton and the orchestra members rehearsed their music once more. Practicing diligently gave the orchestra members the necessary teamwork needed to pro- duce good musical quality in rhythm, melody, and harmony. These musical skills enabled them to enioy instrumental music both as performers and listeners. Orchestra also developed a sense of leader- ship in the section leaders. Throughout the year each student took part in a challenging system of try-outs which recognized indi- vidual achievements. The orchestra mem- bers benefited from a wide, carefully chosen variety of music and musical equipment. ln the spring a concert was given for the benefit of the community and the school. At this concert the orchestra displayed the skills they had acquired throughout the year. 147

The Sequinettes And llllaiorettes Add Color to the Band Dressed in the school colors, gold and white, the Sequinettes and the Majorettes performed during the half-time inter- missions at the football games. As the batons were twirled and the pom-poms waved, these girls presented many routines including a clown act and a witch skit. The adviser ofthe drill team, Miss Linda Garber, andthe adviser of the Maiorettes, Miss Karen Starnes, practiced with the members SEQUINETTES - KNEELING: Susan Hawthorne, Linda Geibel, Sandy Rivers, STANDING: Sheila Giesler, Bet1yJo Reed, Judy Bayer, Bonnie Hart, Corrine Hutchison, Marthann Duffy, Mary Ritts, Linda Hawthorne, Marcia every day in school during fourth period as well as during the summer. Besides practicing these routines, they also helped work them out. Tryouts for Maiorettes and Sequinettes were held in May. The adviser of the group and faculty members served as iudges.
