A member is awarded her wings when she has obtained 350 points. Any girl automatically becomes a member of GAA when she takes part in any intramural sport. Some of the sports that are offered are vol- leyball, basketball, bowling, archery, tumbling, recreational swimming, horseback riding, badmin- ton, and ping-pong. The officers of GAA are LeAnne Lassinger, president, Aysha Harrer, vice- presidentg Dorothy Heller, secretary, and Nancy Scott, treasurer. At the beginning of the second semester, girls' intramural basketball makes its debut in the BHS gym during the noon hour. During the early fall, GAA members are given the opportunity to go horseback riding at Sterling Stables. Volleyball is played during the noontime in the fall. Ping-pong and badminton are played during the assembly pe- riods. Each year managers and assistant managers for all GAA sports are selected by the physical edu- cation teachers. These girls make up the Executive Council. This group holds monthly meetings at which the president who was elected by the entire GAA, the previous spring, presides. Student Council celehrated its fourth liirthday this year. The officers serving this term were: Gilman Smith, president, Neil Norton, vice-p1'esi- dent, Nlary Grey Shidemantle, secretaryg and lion- nie Brown, treasurer. 'lihey had a very husy year, with a finger in many pies. Une project was to sponsor a Korean war orphan through the Foster Parent Plan, and another was getting a foreign exchange student for n-ext year. They had a cloth- ing drive and Austerity Day for the needy Hun- garians and, locally, helped the Heart Drive. Last Uctoher, two representatives, Neil Norton and Gil Smith, were sent to a student council convention in Scranton, Pa., and a trip for some of the news- paper staff to Philadelphia was financed. llere on the home front they started an l'n1fr' Um' Ilrnlifrwil Office-r's 'liraining XVorkshop to instruct the officers of any cluh, homeroom, or class in parliamentary procedure and other items. 'lihey also added two amendments to their constitution. 'lihe first was to elect officers in the spring of each year instead of the fall. 'lihis was suggested to the whole school and accepted. The second was the organization of a safety committee for the purpose of solving some of the traffic prohlems around the school. 'lihe only fund-raising project was the very profitahle noon milk sales. After all this they had a well- deserved picnic to celehrate the end of a very suc- cessful year.
