FOREWORD Many believe the age of chivalry is gone forever, that the knight on his prancing steed belongs to days of yore, the knight who swore allegiance to his God and to his king, who vowed to live life fully and richly, to reverence women, to be kind and courteous, and to ride abroad redressing human wrong. But chivalry still exists; its principles are still taught today. True, the scene has changed from the castle to the schoolroom, but the modern knight is still drilled in polite manners and courtesy; he acquires the knowledge necessary to live effectively in the modern world; he lays up cultural knowledge and skills which enrich his daily living. The gym, the football field, the basketball floor have replaced the jousting and tourney areas; but the boys still glory in contests of skill and bravery, and their fair ladies still watch with breathless awe and vocal approval. Modern youth through religious affiliations (YMCA, Y-TEENS, and church), swear allegiance to their God. As participants in community and civic activities, they are trained in good citizenship and loyalty to their country. They still ride abroad redressing human wrong. Aye, even if it means giving life itself in Korea or some other foreign field. Come, joufney through the pages of the 1953 Magnet.
