Anderson, superintendent of Butler City Schools, Works the year around to keep the seven city schools operating efficiently for the nine-month term. One of his biggest jobs is to assist the board of education in the selection of personnel to fi11 the teaching positions in the schoolsp in addition, he must see that the teachers have the textbooks and other supplies necessary for their work. The salary checks, bills for building maintenance and repair, and other expenses all of which constitute almost a million dollar business, are handled through Dr. Ander- son's office. To be exact the budget for the 1948-1949 school year is S854,747. If a pupil desires Working papers or copy of his birth certificate the matter is handled through the superintendent's office. The office contains a permanent file of the attendance and academic Work for every child in the public schools from first through eighth grade, it goes back as far as 1911. In adition to this the office has on file a record of the school taxes and budgets. Assisting in the many activities of the office is a staff consisting of Miss Edith A. McGuire, assistant to the super- intendent, Miss Margarette N. Moore, stenographerp Miss leanne M. Grossi, c1erkg Miss Helen K. Mortland, secre- tary's clerk: and Mrs. Mary Ann Napora, secretary's clerk.
