The Marching Bands Had Many Sparkling Assets That Added to Their Per ormances Experience and skill topped the true performers of the high school and junior high marching bands. The high school twirlersg Mark Mills, the drum majorg and Arthur Ghys, the band di- rector, attended the summer tines, half time shows, and marching styles that were used throughout the year in street marching and half time performances of the football games. And the Beat Goes JWA6 Band officers displaying music abilities A Il This year the marching Butler Bears and the marching Butler Cubs marched home with two first place trophies and one sec- ond place trophy. Both march- ing units performed at the half time shows during football seasons. The pep band was an added attraction this year to the var- sity basketball games. They were under the student direction of Paul Jones. To follow tradition, the con- cert band performed excellently in district competition with many groups reaching eligibility of state contest.
