You put your practiced smiles on your polished faces and come into a patterned world to prove you are an individual, Learn about the society that awaits you so that you may know how to change it. Talk About Your Good Times . . . those laughing, dreaming, fleeting days. Will we look back when we're a world away to the world we once made for our- selves? The pages of our lives are shortg and when a page has been turned, all but the memories have passed away. l ss. We Open Our Eyes just in time to see something slip by us leaving only the tumed pages that will soon be erased by the hastening elements of time, elements that can only be cap- tured by a picture, a word. Turn the pages of this book with tedious care for the pages of your life should be turned with an awareness of the good times that you are leaving behind. 31 if S Classes Mighty Seniors Prove eadership Abilit OFFI CERS: PRESIDENT Randy Mills VICE PRESIDENT Randy Brittingham S EC RETA RY Saline Roberts TREA SURER Denise Strauch REPORTER C ara Doane SERGEANT AT ARMS Wilbur Herman REPRESENTA TIVES Marilyn Nissen Rusty Lo gan f if J - X7 Gloria Appleberry Loren Appleberry Barbara Baker Linda Bartlett Debbie Berkebile Cathy Hayden Beshore Roger Bise Myrna Bock Nancy Booth Patricia Booth Randy Brittingham Herbie Brownsberger Rick Brumback Marsha Burgess David Christopher Keith Christopher Sally Cooper Linda Cox Shelley Davidson Jim Dickens Donna Dickerson Doug Diehl Dale Dines Kay Dines Cara Doane Caroll Dodds Judy Dunlap Pam Ellis Sheryl Everett Barbara Fritts Linda Giittinger Gerald Griffin Carol Grizzell Darwyn Hall Seniors Combine Fun with Homecoming Sue Hancock Edra Harper Sherry Hedges Shirley Hedges Wilbur Herman Mike Holland Patricia Jackson Stanley Jackson rr.. Coaches Gleason, Wallace, and Worden Evonne Pike Homecoming Queen Homecoming 1971-'72 contained the excitement and flair everyone had expec- ted. lt began with the Student Council making various plans as to the traditional mums, parade entries, half time cere- monies, and the dance. The speculation as to who would win the game and who would win the crown was high, but every- one had their own ideas. During half time ceremonies, all eyes were upon Randy Brittingham when he crowned Evonne Pike, sophomore, as the queen. Wilbur Herman distributed the roses. Evonne was escorted by Tim Nuch- ols. She reigned over the remainder of the game and the dance that followed. The other candidates were Marilyn Nissen, senior, and Lee Ann Lewis, ju- nior. Marilyn was escorted by Rusty Logan and Lee Ann was escorted by Mark Repp. These candidates were nominated by their respective classes and voted on by the entire student body. The football boys made the final decision as to who would be selected as their queen. The Bears were defeated by a score of 30-28 from the much favored Warrensburg Tigers, but not all was lost as everyone enjoyed the dance that followed featuring The Revolver. i -I Queen Evonne at practice. Seeming never to find the right combination, the Varsity players scrapped with their larger opponents with everything they had. Although having the potential to win more games, Coach Allen's Bears couldn't ever put it all together. Playing control ball proved successful for the Bears in many games, but too many of their opponents played the fast-break game. Although the season was unsuccessful, much experience was gained, and the spirit and attendance of the crowds at each game never faltered. -V,- . srr, s i se wafiiensbufgf ' ' este Holden' f r 45 s s 67 s Nefiiidai 6502' lini ii,i f Ballard, gy GQ i 47 V Y ssi 64 s N TV 95 ijt s,re ,,, cis i s - 61 ,syt Q77 f d c3411 iysi, , 1 43 vsvi, frs i,s,, ,ssf VL,-4! ,V '.'k.f ar ---1- ., , 61 s ' M pp.' l .I V ' -L-f ' wif., i sss' s as -rkkir ,',r, . ,, ' in ,L,.,. , -, iiiis sd f ,sddi 45 - iriiss r ncsr sris , ,,,s ,,,s ,r,,s, , W ,,s,s,s,, ni? sysy ,,,',,, Bob Thornton shoots for the rim Junior Varsity Gains Experience As a Team Jim Tiona stuns the Blackhawks.
