Among the new faces at Butler this year was that of Mr. Harold Wherry, Principal. He came to Vandalia from Washington Court House where he was also principal. Mr. Wherry came to Butler because he thought Butler High School has a good educational climate and he once commented that he was very im- pressed with the students. With the help of the faculty and the student body, Mr. Wherry made a great contribution to the High School. It was not at all unusual to see him cheering enthusiastically during a basketball game, dropping into a class- room or club meeting unexpectedly, or overseeing tree planting. Mr. Wherry stressed the importance of student-faculty communications, making the announcements himself Can activity which he thoroughly en- ioyedj and kept the entire school well informed with numerous bulletins: To those who brought honor to Butler High School, Mr. Wherry paid special tribute, through letters and other gestures. Looking back to the year 1965, we feel Mr. Wherry has made great strides toward the unification of the students and faculty. 2I
