Basketball Men: 19-10 Butler started the season with high hopes. The team had the height it takes to be a top contender. The Grizzlies had four returning starters: Henry Ford, Butch Berry, John Ford and Earl Walker. Berry and Walker were team captains this season. Butler participated in one of the toughest basketball con- ferences in the nation, the Jayhawk Juco. The Grizzlies won their first game against Norther n Oklahoma. Many times during the season they played some outstanding ball. At press time they went against Pratt for a second time, coming out the winner, after being defeated in the first encounter. The Grizzlies were 19-10 overall and 5-6 league at press time.

Women Advance The best season in four years is how Coach Tonya Kerschner summed up the wom- en ' s basketball season. Fourth place in the western division of the Jayhawk Conference was won by the women cagers. This was the first time the women made it to the play-offs in four years. The season got off to a disappointing start for the women, but the team picked up momen- tum toward the end. The overall record was 10- 21, and the women were 6-10 in the Confer- ence. Returning sophomores included Debbe Bish- op, Debbie Sparks, Lori Embree, Teresa Wes- terfield, Jo Stuber, Shari Klassen. KATHY METZ patiently waits for the ball in the freeth- row lane.
