Cheerleaders Are Split Despite the thrill of leading cheers for winning teams in both football and basketball, several cheerleaders chose to give up their positions dur- ing the school term. First semester football cheerleaders were sophomores Julie Brownwood, Sondra Huggins, Laurie Potter, and Annette Sowder. Second semester, Potter and Sowder quit and were replaced by sophomore Valerie Edwards and freshmen Lori Horner and Arlene Reekie. Then Huggins and Reekie pulled out of the squad but Huggins appeared as the bear mascot several times.

Honeybears, A Hit A chorus line touch was added to the football and basketball games by the Honeybear drill team. The drill team performed most of its routines to live music played by the pep band. The Honeybears received new uniforms for the basketball season, also. The squad had six returning sophomores. They were Michele Webb, captain; Roxanne Seager, co- captain; Debbie Bogart, Felicia Butts, and Melody Doyal. Freshmen members included LeeAnn Grif- fith, DeeAnn Griffith, Andrea Turner, Sue Kelley, Cathy Canady, Paula Harms, and Darcy Ralston and Toni Pollard who left the squad at the end of first semester. All Butler County women who are on the drill team receive scholarships to attend BCCC.
