STAFF MEMBER Darrell Alexander studies a football roster to identify people in a picture. Butch Berry, staff member, and Jo Rogers, faculty advisor, break the deadline tension by doing a little jammin ' to Butch ' s radio. Center, Cindy Stout, staff member, concentrates on a difficult page layout. Lower, Jeff Regier, photog- raphy editor, finds working in the new dark room in the new building a real improvement over the make- shift facilities of last semester. Grizzly Staff Gets New Area Working out of packing boxes in its temporary headquarters, The Grizzly staff got off to a slow start. The group started the semester in the trailer on the back parking lot, and the week before finals made the move into the new building. Editor-in-chief, Jay Baumann, and advisor Jo Rogers attended the nation- al convention of the Associated Colle- giate Press in Miami Beach. They at- tended sessions that provided them with special ideas used in preparation of the yearbook. Four staff members, Jan Gahagan, Jill Angell, Jeff Regier, and Jay Bau- mann toured the Josten ' s American Yearbook Company in Topeka and learned how the company produces the yearbook. The Grizzy staff members included Jay Baumann, editor-in-chief; Jan Ga- hagan, layout editor; Jeff Regier, pho- tography editor; Jill Angell, copy edi- tor; Cheryl Juby, staff secretary. Oth- er members were Cindy Stout, Darrell Alexander, Derek Dillard, and Butch Berry. CHERYL JUBY, yearbook typist, takes a break from typing copy. Jay Baumann, editor-in- chief, surveys the scene going on in the staff room. Lower left, Jill Angell, copy editor, is pleased as she looks over pictures to be used. The Lantern Exposes Everything The Lantern, BCCC ' s weekly student newspaper, was to wind up the year with nearly 30 issues, including a football homecoming edition and an extra heralding the football team ' s rise to national championship. The student-published paper, which has won state and national awards, did not sidestep issues important to students and top news stories that involved investigation by reporters and editors. Included were stories discussing controversy over, yearbook bidding and questions about funding a football fan trip to Colorado, as well as the consumption of alcoholic beverages by outside groups in the Student Union. 1981-82 Lantern staff members included: Tom Harms, editor in chief; Gary Leach, managing editor; Bill Evans, business manager; Deb. O ' Brien and Jim Keesling, news TOM HARMS, editor-in-chief, crashes under his desk the morn- ing after an all night session working to beat the deadline on the newspaper. Larry Erickson, chief photographer, enlarges a photo in the dark room in the new building which journalism moved into for second semester. editors; Jay Baumann, feature editor; Matt Krause, enter 7 tainment editor; Ted Zweifel, sports editor; Dick Oster- buhr, assistant sports editor; Michele Webb, copy editor; Lee White, city area editor. Staff reporters were; Kathy Kuntz, Sam Ruggles, Valer- ie Cornwell, Keith Lindsey, Joyce Dutton, Paul Taylor, Valerie Edwards, Zachary Lamb, Mitch Fabry, Shelley Crawford, Darren White, David Russell, Mark Sudduth, Cindy Stout, Cammy Litchfield and Sondra Huggins. Photo art staff members were: Larry Erickson, chief photographer; Steve Johnson, staff artist; Jeff Regier, Chuck Carson and Brock Faulkner, photographers. Jill Olson and Alisa Sixkiller comprised the production staff. Bill Bidwell was faculty adviser.
