Our girls put up a hard tight throughout the whole game, but in the end were defeated by the score of 22 to T. NETVSJ This season, basketball, among the girls seems to be more interesting than it has been in previous years. At the first call for candidates, over 50 girls re- ported, including those who could play and those who were interested. This made the future look pretty promising. There are now about 17 girls who are getting down to good hard playing. In this way they expect to win the cham- pionship this season. The Girl's Basketball Schedule for the season is as follows: Friday, January 12, Business at Latimer. Friday, January 19, Irwin at Business. Riverside. Bender Games with:-Schenlcy Hec- onds, Peabody Seconds, 1Yill:insburg Junior High. Our Girls' Inter-Class games have proven quite interesting and have creat- ed a great deal of enthusiasm. SPANISH TEADI DEFEATEI1 TWICE Business High twice defeated the Club E'Spanish team, a team made up entirely of Spaniards. The score of the first game was 2-0 and the score of the second was 2-1. RIVERSIDE BEATEN Riverside was defeated in the third league game 2-0. The teamwork of Busi- ness was exceptionally good, and too much for the opposition. Backinger and Muroski were the Business scorers. Faigler, tl1e bulky goal keeper of River- side kept the score from mounting. BUSINESS LOSES CHAMPIONSHIP Business lost the final and champion: ship game of the season to Ralston. The two counts registered by Ralston could easily be avoided, but the luck was against the home boys and they came through with a defeat. Rodgers was conspicuous for Business. The following boys won their letters and certificates in soccer football:- Mike Dupnak, captain, Sam Backinger, Anthony Muroski, Michael Rodgers, El- well, Albert Mazur, Mike Yalch, Sam Pratt, Ben W'eisman, Edward Murphy, Provan, Sweeny, Verret, Anderson, Gold- stein, and YVilliam Griffin, manager. BASKETBALL At the call for candidates for the basketball team there were about forty- five anxious lads gathered in the gym- nasium. After a couple of weeks of preliminary work, the boys were chosen to represent the school. Sam Pratt and Mike Dupnak were the only players who were on the last years team. These two players together with some new ma'terial, bound together a formidable combination. The following boys are on the squad :-Pratt, captain, Mongillo, Backinger, YVeisman, Mazur, Dupnak, Muroski, Verret, Elwell, Thomas, Roth, Yaleh, Goldstein, Murphy, Yarcheever, and Provan. Of these boys the following will be lost by graduation: Mongillo, XVeisman, Masur, Dupnak, and Verret. Manager Ciccone, is the team manager, and he forming one of the best schedules a Business Hi team has ever had. Cap- tain Pratt, will be the only regular left on the team after graduation, but there are several other boys on the squad who have not had much experience, but who will take the place of the players who were lost by graduation. The team has made a very favorable impression in the first two games played this year by defeating Schenley and Fifth Avenue Hi's second teams.
