Its purpose is to create a spirit of friendliness among the girls, to help the girls in their efforts tor self'- improvement, and to do good for others. In ,order that the programmes for the semester may meet these varied aims, discussional, social service, business, and social meetings are held. At the discus- sional meetings subjects of interest to the business girl are usually given prominence. The social service meetings give opportunity for making and distri- bution ot gifts to an Orphans' Home near the school. The girls ot' the club have adopted this home and tlllT'.Ii.Q' the term have given donations of fruit and toys to the children. In fact, the whole school has helped in this worthy work. The social side of life is not neglected by the Friendship Club. It' you think so, ask the girls who attended the party for new members, the NVhite Elephant party at Christmas time, or the crown- ing social event of the semester, the banquet! This party due to the elliorts ot' the ladies ot' the faculty was an ex- cellent success, and all members attend- ing said that it was well worth while. The remaining pa1't ot' the X Ray's work this term has been done rather quietly but surely, as this magazine shows. All the material herein published has been collected and prepared by the in- dividual class room reporters and their teachers. XVhile the X Bay Club does not advertise itselt' much, we feel that it is one ot' the most important organiza- tions in the school, and we look forward to another jolly good time next term and also tor a lot ot' excellent record mater- ial l'or our June issue. BASEBALL About eighty appeared on the field when the first call for baseball candi- dates was issued and the prospects looked ve1'y bright. Two weeks after the hard work had begun the squad be- gan to reduce little by little and by the time the season was ready to open the squad was cut down to about twenty players. After the squad was reduced Coach XVhite then started work in earn- est and by the time the opening game came along, Coach NVhite had his re- gular team selected. Business High School won the Junior High School Baseball Championship, winning every league game' except the one with Ralston which was the last game of the season. Business might have beaten Ralston had it not been for two of its players who had been doing great work all season for Business, be- ing made ineligible to play a few days before the game with Ralston. Riverside defeated Ralston, two weeks after Business traveled to XYest End and defeated Riverside. Ralston was again defeated by Irwin. Business had defeated lrwin early in the Season. Business also defeated Latimer, and the game that had to be played with Rals- ton was the only league game that was left to be played. Ralston's defeats by Riverside and Irwin entitled Business to the Junior High School Baseball Cham- pionship provided they would beat Rals- ton. Business was defeated by Ralston and therefore was tie with Riverside for the championship. As tl1e rule of the Board of Public Education says that no championship games are to be played off, Business was then entitled to the thnn pionslnp.
