74205 mcgucwld e ' to clcwawevzk THE SCHOOL SPONSORED the second trip east, with fifty-four students plus four chaperons, Mr. and Mrs. White and Mr. and Mrs. Thornton, going on the extended eight-day trip. In New York, the group took a boat trip around Manhattan Island and saw the Statue of Liberty, visited Radio City Music Hall, the Empire State Building, and the United Nations Building. Such fam- ous sightseeing spots as the Capitol Building, the White House, and the Lincoln Memorial were visited in Washington, D. C. Also toured were Arlington National Cemetery, Annapo- lis, and Gettysburg's battlefield. Ar- riving back in Bushnell, an exhausted group of students dragged themselves out of the buses, each with the thought that never had they spent a more fun- filled or educational eight days. The stage crew and the make-up committee toiled over problems confronting them. Prompters and public relations people were invaluable work savers for the directors. The six confirmed old maids - Kay Vincent, Donna Scott, Caroline Serven, Marlene Varner, Iill Gallehue, and Sue Kirby -were all crazy over Detective O'Finn CBert Loweb, as was the fe- male reporter, Sue Barnes. Enjoying O'Finn's predicament, Kramer CLocie Pensingerj watches the stretcher-men, Kurt Evans and Iohn Scholes, carry away the bodies of two of the old maids, Sue and Iill, murdered in order to obtain O'Finn's attention. Working in close co- operation with the stage crew, headed by lack Pershing, and the make-up committee, which Linda Worthington organized, were the director, Mrs. Katherine Higgins, and the student director, LaVerne Fryrear. Through the combined efforts of everyone connected with it, BULL IN A CHINA SHOP succeeded in providing experi- ence for the play members and entertainment for the audience. IJLIXVUTIIK' lfryrt-nr is xeutefl at the left. THIS YEAR, as before, the Student Council sponsored several assemblies, which took the monotony out of everyday class work. A variety of pro- grams, both entertaining and educational, were presented. Examples of student assemblies were skits on how to study and how to achieve victory, put on by the National Honor Society and the Pep Club, re- spectively. Among the professional assemblies was the one of Ha- waiian music presented by the Galvannos. A newly inaugurated project was the showing of movies, which included Above and Beyond. These assemblies were enlightening as well as fun.
