HOW DO YOU SPELL allegiance? Is this the proper plural possessive form of lady? Do you include the volume in a footnote? and How can you tell whether a verbal is a gerund or a participle? are some of the ques- tions answered in the English classes. These courses provide a broad and invaluable back- ground ior the student. Freshmen review grammar and read DAVID COPPERPIELD, while the sophomores study IULIUS CAESAR. English III students learn about the lives of American authors and read their works, while the seniors in college preparatory English acquire skills in writing themes, term papers, and book re- views. General English pupils learn practical English usage, mechanics, spelling, capitaliza- tion, and punctuation, as well as cover units on business English and advertising propagan- da. In all English classes, students are taught to express themselves correctly, learn to enun- ciate and punctuate properly, and develop skills in comprehensive reading. In Spanish I and II, students study verb forms and con- jugations, and read and translate a Spanish novel. They become familiar with the lang- uage and they gain an insight into the customs and culture of the Spanish speaking nations.

B-PC's MATHEMATICS department is designed to care for students of varying needs. In the field of prac- tical math, students learn the fund- amental principles that they will need to know in everyday life. The algebra I and II courses teach the student to solve more difficult prob- lems than those he might encounter in the life of a layman. Geometry develops the student's ability to reason logically. An advanced year of solid geometry and trigonometry helps to prepare for college mathe- matics. The science department of- fers a complete course of biological and physical sciences. General sci- ence provides students with an un- derstanding of the basic, helpful facts of everyday science. Biology ac- quaints students with the origin and processes of all life forms. Chemis- try and physics are both college preparatory courses designed to give science and math majors an insight to the structure of matter: principles of energy: and basic elec- tricity, electronics, and mechanics. New this year was an attempt to speed up the science education of capable freshmen, who were al- lowed to skip general science and elect biology instead. B-PC takes pride in the ability of its science and math departments to prepare stu- dents for a challenging future.
